Suzanne Nesbitt Dawkins
Principal/President
Suzanne Nesbitt Dawkins and David Guinn founded Design One in 1992. Suzanne’s twenty five years of experience in the communications industry, coupled with her management and technical knowledge, has enabled her to guide Design One’s growth and success. Design One’s clients have benefited from her focus on understanding and responding to the objectives of market-driven clients as well as her fresh approaches to problem solving. Suzanne’s work includes management and creative development for such clients as Drexel Heritage Furniture Industries, Tanner Companies, Ingles Markets, GE Lighting Systems, Irwin Industrial Tools and a host of non-profit organizations.
David Guinn
Principal/Creative Director
A founding principal of Design One with over 35 years of experience in design, illustration, art direction and copywriting, David has the unique ability to balance intuitive creativity and strategic thinking to guide the development of effective marketing solutions. He has led projects for a broad range of clients, including: Hammary – A La-Z-Boy Company, Doncaster/Tanner Companies, Drexel Heritage Furniture Industries, Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community, The Village at Orchard Ridge - A National Lutheran Home Community, and The North Carolina Arboretum. His work has been awarded numerous Addy, PICA and Public Relations Association Awards and has appeared in HOW and Print Magazines, Graphis, the International Journal of the Graphic Arts, and featured prominently in design books by Rockport Publishers.
Jim Slatton
Associate Creative Director
Design One Associate Creative Director, Jim Slatton, brings 17 years experience in the graphic design/marketing communications field. Jim’s professional background includes both design firm and advertising agency experience. He brings a focused, strategic approach to print, interactive, advertising and integrated branding. Jim has worked for top companies such as The National Trust, Hammary – A La-Z-Boy Company, Cingular Wireless, Deloitte and Touche, Georgia Pacific and Holiday Inn Hotels. His award-winning work has been recognized nationally by Communication Arts, Print Magazine, AR100, AIGA, The Freddie Awards, The Creative Review and the Addy Awards.
June Hobby
Senior Designer
June has accumulated a breadth of experience in design and marketing over 25 years, from advertising campaigns, collateral material & web development to package design & custom built displays. Her work has been recognized with numerous Addy Awards, and with Graphic Design, Print Regional Design, & Printing Industries of America. June is also a creative project manager, researcher and tech geek. She has worked with a diverse range of clients including Southern Highland Craft Guild, Ingles Markets, The Furniture Society, Deerfield Retirement Community, Drexel Heritage, Irwin Industrial Tools, Feadship Yachts, Selkirk Communications, Roxanne’s Living Food, SoloPak Pharmaceuticals, and Great Western Bank.
Aileen Mouritsen
Senior Production Specialist
Aileen M. Mouritsen has over 35 years of experience in the fields of graphic design and advertising with a special focus on production and prepress work for companies in Melbourne, Florida, Washington, D.C., Columbia, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina. She brings her high-level problem solving skills to supervising and executing complex prepress work for all types of marketing collateral including annual reports, catalogs, brochures and direct mail advertising for such clients as Ingles Markets, Scene Weaver, Irwin Industrial Tools, Yakety Sak and The Bascom Arts Center.
